Sitka
Alaska's sport fishing is a world-class saltwater fishing
destination! Kain's Fishing Adventure customers have one of the highest
success rates in the sport fishing industry for catching numbers of
chinook and coho salmon and tasty, hard-fighting halibut and lingcod!
Just ask our customers, they will tell you they always go home with
plenty of professionally packaged fish.
Our anglers experience awesome fishing action in Sitka during the months
of May through September. We primarily target Chinook (King) and Silver
(Coho) salmon using light mooching tackle for the ultimate in sport
fishing excitement.
When targeting salmon we "mooch"
cut-plug herring so you can feel every nibble & bite. Using light weight
custom tackle, this fun and exciting hands-on fishing technique is done
with 10-1/2 foot G. Loomis rods, Shimano reels, 20 pound Izoreline,
ultra sharp Gamakatsu hooks and plug cut herring. Nothing is more fun
than dropping your tight spinning bait into a salmon's strike zone,
working the bait, anticipating the bite of a feeding salmon and setting
the hook yourself! All salmon caught in Sitka are ocean bright,
aggressive biters. And these fish bite all day long giving you the
opportunity to play catch & release until your arms can't take it any
longer. Ocean caught salmon are very strong fighters and can take
several runs before landing them. Sitka-caught salmon also offer the
very best table fare because of their brightness.
Our area also enjoys an abundant supply of Alaskan Halibut, Lingcod and
many different species of bottomfish. The variety of fish available in
our fertile waters will surely keep your reel singing with non-stop
fishing action!
The Halibut fishing around Sitka is consistently outstanding. Halibut
ranging from 25 to 350 pounds are abundant all season. Chicken Halibut
(named for their size) ranging from 25 to 50 pounds are the best eating
size to catch and keep. Unlike other area's in Alaska, Sitka doesn't
have strong tidal currents to contend with, this allows the opportunity
to fish for Halibut at any time of the day. It's quite common to catch
your limit of Halibut and salmon in the same day.
