Sitka
offers a variety of great activities besides fishing. If you love eagles
you can visit the
Alaska Raptor Center
(click on words for link) or hike up any number of
scenic trails to view Mount Edgecomb and the vast Pacific Ocean vista.
Sitka also offers awesome shopping throughout old historic Sitka.
Besides sport fishing enthusiasts, Sitka's shops are frequented by
cruise ship vacationers, who come to town daily.
You will also find excellent dining, from
casual to dress-nice establishments. The
Sheldon
Jackson Museum
(click on words for
link) offers one of
the most complete Northwest/Alaska Native exhibits in the world. The
museum has hundreds of drawers with artifacts, each of which can be
opened and viewed. If you have the time plan to spend a day there, it is
worth the trip.
If you did not get enough fishing during
your stay with Kain's Fishing Adventures, you can always cast from the
beach for the hordes of pink salmon that flood the area during the
summer. The pinks are so think they try to jump into any water-emptying
culverts. Bring your fly rod, spin or bait caster and enjoy non-stop
action.
